Reading First

Please read below for a summary of the latest (and last, since we are no longer under the grant) site visit from our Reading First regional, Celia Lundin.

It has been my pleasure to serve as your Regional Coordinator for the past four years.

This data reflects that Brewster students have made great academic growth.  Particularly impressive is the smaller number of students at Intensive in May. Conversations at grade level meetings reflect that the following elements are discussed by the staff:

Fluency that includes rate and accuracy

            Strong initial core instruction

            Appropriate pacing

Diagnostic assessment when necessary to identify weak skill areas

Three tiers of intervention with appropriate supplemental materials

Staff uses data to drive instruction and set academic goals and action plans.

The gains that have been made at Brewster reflect hard work by the staff and good support provided by the coach and principal.
